My Big Easy Wedding

Above you see my husband and I leading our family down Royal Street in New Orleans, on our way to Brennan's restaurant-- our favorite! This was right after we got married. Our ceremony was short, our family was there, and we had some good laughs with a great group of people.  I enjoyed a Shrimp Creole, some white wine, and the world-famous Bananas Foster, which was invented at Brennan's many years ago. YUM.
After eating ourselves silly, we went to the Harrah's casino down by the Mississippi river, where I played video poker. A fantastic ending to a lovely day! I am so thankful about everything in my life that is going right.

We had a pretty amazing trip. Kevin's friend ate alligators every day. I probably gained 15 lbs from everything I ate. Bourbon street was just as quirky as ever. It was wonderful to catch up with our families and enjoy the ever enchanting sights and sounds of New Orleans.

And now I am in a cabin in St. John, USVI, making lists of things I need to make my new house feel like a home. I'm also trying to figure out how to get rid of all my stuff back in the Carolinas. Life is certainly turning into quite the adventure, and I can't wait to see more of what it brings. And, as they say in New Orleans, let the good times roll!

Wise words from a 6 year old...

"If it rains on a wedding, that's a good thing because the raindrops are singing a song."
My nephew said this to my mom this morning. He is so sweet.

My Super Sweet Sixteen Birthday Bachelorette Thingy!

Dear World,
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of planning, calling, checking, double checking, working, and bubble baths. Because after a day full of planning, you just need a bubble bath.

So I finally have plane tickets, dinner reservations, dress/accessories, and hotel arrangements for my rajun cajun wedding. Now all I have to do is wait. I feel at peace. Sorta. I am now a ball of stress over moving and finding a job, which looms closer every day.

Over the weekend I had my birthday/bachelorette party, which was more tame than I had anticipated, but I guess that's a sign of my age. I don't particularly enjoy being surrounded by people who look like strippers and bros singing an acoustic cover of "no diggety" (true story).

I cleaned my house for guests. And then didn't have guests. At least my house is clean.

I'm still trying to get rid many things, so if you want stuff, come over. Grab a ninja turtle, or a Thanksgiving decoration, or a Garfield figurine. My house is a gold mine of weird treasures.

Stay tuned, and hold on tight-- the big fat cajun wedding post is next to come. :)

Love,
Steph
